Canteen Board
Canteen Board Terms of Service
Effective date: October 10, 2026 Version: 2026-10-10 (replaces version 2026-10-04)
Canteen Board is a service of NoffTech LLC, a Washington limited liability company based in Lacey, Washington ("NoffTech," "we," "us"). These terms are an agreement between you and NoffTech LLC. Please read them. By opening a board, signing in to the officers desk, or using the Canteen Board website, phone app, or television apps, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
Plain-English summary (the full terms below control): the post owns what it puts on its board and is responsible for it. Plans renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel any time, and your board, including the television, keeps running until the end of the period you paid for. Monthly charges are not refundable. Annual charges are fully refundable within 30 days. Billing mistakes are always refunded. After service ends, we keep your board 90 days so you can export it. Disputes start with a 30-day effort to work things out by email, then go to the courts in Thurston County, Washington, or small claims court. Do not post anything illegal or hurtful. The service is provided as-is, and our liability is limited.
1. Who these terms apply to
- The post ("you" when we talk about plans and billing): the veterans post, lodge, or club that opens a board. The person who signs up confirms they are allowed to agree to these terms for the post.
- Officers: people the post gives a desk account. Officers must be 18 or older and act for the post.
- Guests and members: people who use a board's guest pages or the Canteen Board phone app. You must be at least 13. Only Sections 6, 7, 8, 10, and 12 through 17 apply to you, and you do not owe us any payment.
2. What Canteen Board is
Canteen Board is a lobby board service. It shows a post's events, hours, notices, birthdays, photos, and weather on a television, in a smart TV's or other device's web browser, and, once they are released, through Canteen Board apps for Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Roku (coming soon). Officers update it from the officers desk on any phone or computer. Guests can send photos and notes, sign a guest book, ask about hall rentals, or join a mailing list, when the post turns those features on. Members can follow a post, see its hours and events, and get alerts in the Canteen Board phone app (coming soon).
3. Accounts and security
- Keep desk usernames and passwords private. You are responsible for what happens under your post's desk accounts. Tell us right away at hello@canteenboard.com if you think an account was misused.
- Admins decide who gets desk access, who can review in the app, and who can send alerts. Remove people who should no longer have access.
- Keep the owner email address current. We send trial, billing, and deletion notices there.
4. Free trial, plans, and payment
Free trial. A new board includes a 60-day free trial. No card is needed to start. We remind you on the desk and by email about 14 days and 3 days before the trial ends. If the trial ends without a card or other payment arrangement, the television pauses. The board is kept so you can come back, and adding a card turns it back on. If a board stays paused this way for 12 months, we delete it. We email the owner address about 30 days and again about 7 days before that deletion, and adding a card before then keeps the board.
Plans and prices. Current prices are on our home page and sign-up page. Today they are:
- Veteran organizations (VFW, American Legion, AMVETS, DAV): $100 per year or $10 per month.
- Fraternal and civic clubs (for example Elks, Moose, Eagles): $150 per year or $15 per month.
- Add-ons: onboarding setup ($79 one time, added to the first card payment), Fire TV kit ($59, invoiced separately, nothing charged online), and district bundles ($80 per post per year at 5 or more posts).
Every television at the post is included in the plan. Prices do not include taxes, which we or our payment provider may add where required.
Veteran pricing. Veteran pricing is for a qualifying veterans organization whose tax ID, city, and state match public IRS records. We may check this again later. If a board does not qualify, we will move it to the fraternal and civic price after telling the owner by email.
Founding price. The first 50 posts that qualify keep a founding price for as long as the board stays continuously paid. A founding spot held during a free trial is released if the trial ends without a card.
Automatic renewal. If you pay by card, your plan renews automatically each month or each year, at the price then in effect, and your card is charged at the start of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time (see Section 5); canceling stops future renewals. If you add a card during the trial, the first charge is on the day the trial ends. If you add a card in the last 48 hours of a trial, or after the trial ended, your card is charged that day; the desk tells you this before you confirm. Card payments are sold through Stripe. For card purchases, Stripe is the merchant of record (seller of record): Stripe takes the payment, calculates and collects any sales tax, and issues your receipts and invoices, and Stripe's customer terms and privacy policy also apply to the purchase. Canteen Board itself is provided by NoffTech under these terms. Cancellations and refunds follow the rules in this section and Section 5; approved refunds are issued through Stripe to your original payment method.
Invoice or check. If you choose invoice or check, payment is due within 30 days of the invoice date (net 30). A board paid in advance by invoice or check runs through the end of the period it is paid through. If an invoice is still unpaid, we remind you on the officers desk (and by email to the owner address) 30 days and again 45 days after the invoice date. If it is still unpaid 60 days after the invoice date, the television board pauses; the officers desk stays open so you can pay. An unpaid invoice never starts deletion: we keep all of your board's content. As soon as the invoice is paid, the board turns back on.
Price changes. We will give the owner email address at least 30 days' notice before a price increase applies to your plan. The new price starts at your next renewal after that notice. You can cancel before then.
Failed payments. If a card payment fails, the board stays on for 14 days while you update the card. After that, the television pauses until payment goes through. A failed payment alone does not start deletion.
Refunds.
- Monthly plans: monthly charges are not refundable. When you cancel, you are not charged again, and the service keeps running until the end of the month you paid for.
- Annual plans: if you cancel within 30 days after your first annual charge, or within 30 days after an annual renewal charge, we will refund that charge in full. When we issue this refund, your plan ends on the refund date instead of at the end of the year; the television pauses and the 90-day export period in Section 5 starts that day. If you cancel after those 30 days, the charge is not refundable, and the service keeps running until the end of the year you paid for.
- Billing mistakes: if we charge you in error, charge you twice, or charge the wrong amount, we will always refund the mistaken amount, whenever you tell us.
- Your legal rights: nothing in these terms takes away any refund or other right that the law gives you and that cannot be waived by agreement.
- How to ask: email hello@canteenboard.com from the owner address, or use the billing portal where available. Card refunds are processed through Stripe, as merchant of record, back to the original payment method, usually within 5 to 10 business days of our approval, depending on your bank. Invoice and check refunds are paid by check or bank transfer.
Add-ons and hardware. The Fire TV kit is invoiced separately, shipped to the address you give us, and nothing is charged online. You may return an unused Fire TV kit within 30 days of delivery for a full refund of the kit price. If a kit arrives defective or stops working because of a defect within that time, tell us and we will replace it. Email hello@canteenboard.com to arrange a return or replacement. Onboarding setup is account configuration, charged once on the first card payment. We move your calendar and photos into your board from material you send us.
5. Canceling, pausing, and deletion
- Canceling. An admin can cancel at any time from the officers desk, and card plans can also be canceled in the billing portal. Canceling stops future charges. Your service, including every television board, keeps running until the end of the period you already paid for. We do not pause the board early because you canceled. (If you cancel during a free trial, or on an invoice plan with nothing prepaid, the cancellation takes effect right away. If you take an annual refund under Section 4, service ends on the refund date as stated there.)
- After service ends. When the paid period is over, the television pauses, the desk stays open, and we keep the board's content for 90 days so you can download an export. We email the owner address about 14 days and 3 days before deletion. After 90 days, the content is deleted. Backups clear within 30 days after that.
- Coming back. You can undo a cancellation before the paid period ends, or add a card during the 90 days, to turn the board back on.
- Export. An admin can download a copy of the board's data (settings, events, hours, notices, notes, guest book, member dates, mailing list, and photo details with links) from the Account section of the desk at any time while the board exists.
- Immediate deletion. We may delete a board right away, without waiting 90 days, if the post asks us to or under Section 9.
6. Your content
You own it. The post (and the people who send photos and notes to it) keep ownership of everything put on a board: events, photos, notes, notices, guest book entries, and other content ("content").
Permission to run the service. You give NoffTech a limited permission to store, copy, resize, display, and send your content only as needed to run Canteen Board for you, for example to show photos on your television, send your alerts, and make backups. This permission ends when the content is deleted, except for copies in backups that clear on their normal schedule.
When you send a photo or note to a post, you give that post permission to show it on its board and keep it, and you confirm you have the right to share it.
The post's responsibilities. The post is responsible for the content on its board and for the information it collects through Canteen Board. The post agrees to:
- Get permission before showing a member's name, birthday, or anniversary, and before showing photos of identifiable people, and get a parent's or guardian's permission for photos of children.
- Use guest, member, hall rental, and mailing-list information only for the post's own business and follow the laws that apply to it, including email marketing laws when using the mailing list.
- Keep personal or sensitive information (such as health details or home addresses) out of alerts and notices, because the post's recent alerts and its board are public.
- Answer privacy requests from its guests and members, with our help when needed.
7. Acceptable use
Do not use Canteen Board to:
- Post or send anything illegal, threatening, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, or that exploits children.
- Post anything you do not have the right to share, including other people's photos or copyrighted material without permission.
- Share someone's private information without their permission.
- Send spam or unsolicited bulk email, or add people to a mailing list who did not ask.
- Pretend to be another person or organization, or claim veteran pricing you do not qualify for.
- Break, overload, probe, or get around the security of the service, or access boards, accounts, or data that are not yours.
- Copy, resell, or build a competing product from the service or the apps, except as the law allows.
8. Reporting content
To report a photo or other content in the Canteen Board phone app, tap Report on the item and choose a reason. The report goes to the post's officers and to us. You can also contact the post, or email hello@canteenboard.com with the board address and a description of the item, including content you believe infringes your copyright or other rights. We review reports and may remove content and, for repeat problems, suspend boards or accounts.
9. Suspension and termination by us
We may pause or remove content, suspend a board, or delete a board (including right away, without the 90-day period) if the board or its users break these terms, if the law requires it, if needed to protect people or the service, or if payment is not made after the steps in Section 4. Where reasonable, we will tell the owner email first and give a chance to fix the problem. If we stop offering Canteen Board altogether, or end your board for reasons that are not your fault, we will give at least 30 days' notice where we can, time to export, and a prorated refund of any prepaid fees for the unused time. If we end a board because the post broke these terms, no refund is owed except where the law requires one.
10. The apps
The Canteen Board phone app and television apps are coming soon; this section applies once they are available. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use them on devices you own or control, under these terms and the rules of the app store you got them from. The apps need an internet connection; the television apps keep showing the last board for a while if the connection drops. We may update the apps, and some updates may be required to keep using them.
Apple devices. If you got an app from Apple's App Store: these terms are between you and NoffTech, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, and has no duty to provide maintenance or support. If the app fails to meet any warranty that applies, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any); otherwise Apple has no warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for any claims about the app, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, consumer protection, or intellectual property claims; NoffTech is responsible for those to the extent these terms say so. You confirm you are not in a country under a US government embargo or on a US government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
Google, Amazon, and Roku devices. The terms of Google Play, the Amazon Appstore, and the Roku Channel Store also apply to your download. If they conflict with these terms about the store's role, the store's terms control for that store.
11. Third-party services
Canteen Board works with services run by others, such as Facebook or Instagram (if a post connects its Page or its Instagram account), public calendar feeds, the US National Weather Service, Stripe, and Apple, Google, Amazon, and Roku. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for them, and a feature that depends on one may stop working if that service changes.
12. Changes to the service and to these terms
We improve Canteen Board over time and may add, change, or remove features. If we remove a major feature you pay for, we will tell post owners in advance. If we change these terms, we will post the new version with a new effective date. For significant changes, we will email post owners or show a notice on the desk at least 30 days before they take effect. If you keep using Canteen Board after that, the new terms apply. We may also ask a post admin to accept updated terms the next time they sign in to the officers desk. If you do not agree, cancel before they take effect.
13. Disclaimers
We work to keep Canteen Board running and accurate, but the service and apps are provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, NoffTech disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that imported calendars, Facebook or Instagram posts, or weather will be accurate or current, or that a television will always show the latest information. Do not rely on Canteen Board for emergency or safety notices.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows: (a) NoffTech will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill; and (b) NoffTech's total liability for all claims about Canteen Board is limited to the greater of the amount the post paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100. These limits do not apply where the law does not allow them.
15. Indemnity
The post agrees to defend and hold NoffTech harmless from claims by others arising from the post's content, the post's use of guest and member information, or the post's breaking these terms, and to pay resulting reasonable costs, including attorney's fees. We will tell you promptly about any such claim and let you control the defense, but we may take part with our own lawyer.
16. Disputes and governing law
Talk to us first (required). Before either side files a lawsuit about Canteen Board or these terms, that side must first send the other a written notice by email describing the problem and what it wants. Send yours to hello@canteenboard.com; we will send ours to the owner email on the board. Both sides will then try in good faith to resolve the dispute informally for 30 days after the notice is received. Neither side may start a court case during those 30 days, except to ask a court for urgent relief to stop ongoing harm (for example, misuse of the service or of someone's intellectual property), or to preserve a claim that would otherwise run out of time.
Courts. If the dispute is not resolved within those 30 days, either side may go to court. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any lawsuit must be brought in the state courts in Thurston County, Washington, or the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington (which sits in Tacoma and covers Thurston County), and both sides agree to those courts' jurisdiction and venue.
Small claims. Instead, either side may bring a claim in small claims court if it qualifies, including a Washington small claims court or the small claims court where the post is located. The 30-day notice step still applies first.
No arbitration. These terms do not require arbitration and do not include a class-action waiver.
17. Other terms
- These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement about Canteen Board and replace earlier versions.
- If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
- Our not enforcing a term right away is not a waiver.
- The post may not transfer this agreement without our written permission. We may transfer it with Canteen Board if the business is sold or reorganized.
- Neither side is responsible for delays caused by events outside its reasonable control.
- Sections 6 (ownership and post responsibilities), 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17 continue after the agreement ends.
- Canteen Board is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, AMVETS, DAV, the Elks, Moose, Eagles, or any other organization. Their names are used only to describe who the service is for.
